The Linux kernel image provided by toolhouse (based on Ubuntu) already contains most of the generic and specific drivers. However, it may happen that certain manufacturers have special license conditions and therefore prevent integration into Linux images. In this case, you as the customer must take action yourself and install the drivers manually.
Procedure before version 5.50
If you are using a version earlier than 5.50, you must install the drivers manually. You can automate this process yourself via prestart.sh. To do this, simply copy the driver files into the testlx directory on the USB stick and enter your installation commands in the prestart.sh file. However, we recommend that you update to a new version. On the one hand, installing drivers has been significantly simplified and, on the other hand, it may very well be that the drivers you need are already included as standard in one of the new versions.
Procedure according to version 5.50
From version 5.50 onwards, a special script has been set up to automatically install drivers. To install the drivers you need, simply copy the .ko or .deb files to the drivers directory on the USB stick within the testlx directory (/testlx/drivers). If the folder does not exist, you can simply create it manually in Windows.
As soon as toolstar®testLX or toolstar®shredderLX are started, those located in the drivers folder Drivers installed or loaded automatically. Afterwards, previously unrecognized devices should become usable in the toolstar® software.
Special drivers
Most Linux drivers or kernel modules do not require a system restart. However, there are special drivers that require such a restart and also have a complete interactive installation routine. This type of driver cannot be used via this method because the live image of toolstar® is reset after every restart and does not save anything permanently.
Use your own Linux distribution
The programs toolstar®testLX and toolstar®shredderLX are standard Linux programs and can be in most Linux distributions. Provided the necessary packages are installed. So if you have a Linux distribution that runs on your specific devices, then you can toolstar®testLX or toolstar®shredderLX can also be operated in this environment. Toolhouse support expires at this point. We cannot guarantee that errors are due to our program and not the operating system you are using.
