The challenge
Used PCs, servers and notebooks must be audited, tested and securely deleted. All system information, test results and deletion certificates should be transferred centrally to a database for further processing. The essential boundary conditions are a fully automated process, network-controlled and highly parallel processes. However, the central aspect remains the deletion of the data.
The implementation
EURATECH has been using toolhouse software products since 2005. IT products from notebooks to servers are tested with toolstar®testLX. The advantages of use are demonstrated by the integrated deletion tool toolstar®shredder. All specifications regarding the level of detail of the system information, the duration and intensity of the tests, the deletion procedure and the logging are determined via the long-term test settings of toolstar®testLX with Shredder. At the same time, LAN/PXE boots the devices and toolstar®testLX with Shredder automatically begins the audit. Then tests and data deletion take place. The results are then saved via network control and imported into the database system. Each test and deletion result is assigned to the corresponding device via the asset or serial number contained in the file name and report and can be accessed at any time.

The challenge and implementation
The main focus of the business activity is the production of server, notebook and PC systems under the quality brand Aquado®... The entire manufacturing process is highly automated, so it is important that the tool used can be perfectly integrated into this process... Aquado has been relying on toolhouse products since 2002 to minimize sources of error and maximize production and efficiency.
The result
Since using the toolstar® software, there has been a dramatic reduction in RMAs, which in turn leads to optimal customer satisfaction. The systems are only sent to dealers after completed and successful tests with toolstar®. The corresponding results are recorded and the associated protocol is archived and also enclosed with the delivery. This ensures that the specialist dealer only receives functioning and tested systems. A still important advantage that speaks in favor of using toolstar® is the time saved in the factory thanks to the fully automated processes. The components of the built-to-order systems are automatically recognized and tested by toolstar®. Therefore, an enormous amount of time is saved in production and there is no need to reconfigure the test software. By saving time and minimizing RMA, production costs are reduced many times over. This also accounts for the increase in throughput and the acceleration of processes. Since 2002, a remarkable 300,000 systems have been tested with toolstar®.

Conclusion
Compared to individual freeware solutions, toolstar®testLX impresses with its efficiency. After a short training period and the creation of a few templates, the corresponding test parameters are defined in a very short time, and a long-term test is usually started after just a few minutes.
The software also impresses with its remote maintenance functions; after all, many devices can be managed from a central location and administrators do not have to move from device to device in the workshop.
